Roy Powers Firing Line Album Audiophile Analog CD
Roy Powers Firing Line Album Audiophile Analog CD

Roy Powers began tickling fancies with powerful, if not killer keyboards through the late ‘60’s and ‘70’s around the Atlanta area. While learning the Blues and R & B from a host of great Atlanta musicians who worked the clubs in and around pre-underground Atlanta bars, Roy met a young singer and entertainer, Thomas Fletcher, known far and wide as “TEE.”  TEE took Roy and three other wannabe’s to school in a basement for two months, every day and half the night, teaching them to play tight.

The incredible experience opened the youngsters up to the great era of Atlantic/Stax recordings.  Earning passing grades from their mentor, the four found themselves opening at “The Pink Pussycat Club,” owned by Ernie Wheelwrights, ex Atlanta Falcon running back.  It was arguably the number one club in Atlanta at that time for all of the black artists traveling on major labels.

It was here that Roy and friends became know as “Greydudes,” i.e., white musicians that played black. Came time to “Get the show on the road,” the group struck out on the Chitlin Circuit, playing as the TEE Fletcher Review.  The tour took them to Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas and Virginia, playing in clubs that were previously only available to the black artists.  Even during a period social unrest, Roy experienced a common thread of appreciation of true blues music that knew no racial boundaries.  For 19 year-old Roy Powers it was a thoughtful thread of life in the music lane.

Originally inspired by the great Piano Red, Roy migrated to the Miami / Ft. Lauderdale area and by 1984 had joined the Gatorkicks band. This country rock group soon found themselves opening for country legends, George Jones, Reba McIntyre, Ricky Skaggs and others.

Moving north to Ft. Pierce in 1987, Roy chanced to meet the late Gary Stewart, a talented songwriter and performer who issued the challenge, “If it hurts, Roy, write it.”  It was in Ft. Pierce that Roy met Cookie Mariano and the and the soon-to-be Cookie & The Vagrantz players.  Roy became a Vagrant in 1999 and was Cookie’s music director for six years until her death in early 2009.

Those incredible blues players led Roy to the St. Lucie Blues club where he met Barbara and Richard Love, with whom he ultimately developed a close working relationship.  Then came the sessions at Blues Destiny Records.  It was here that Roy wrote the title song for a new Blues album, Follow Me To The Blues, featuring Blues great, Peter McGraw.  Good things always seem to give birth to more good things, and VOILA!, a second album, More McGraw, found Roy on the keyboard…and on a scratch pad where he scribbled out some words that became the soulful “What Ashame” cut on the More McGraw album.

And then came “Firing Line”.  These incredible sessions were hammered out in the studios of Blues Destiny Records, Firing Line features Roy on vocals, Richard Love on drums, guitar great Ronnie Sessum and John Hoorman on bass. And the Keyboard work. Roy Powers, of course.

The Sean Healen Band Floodplain Album Compact Disc
The Sean Healen Band Floodplain Album Compact Disc

Sean Healen is the principal singer, songwriter and ryhthm guitarist. A prolific and I mean prolific songwriter, Healen has hundred's of songs all worthy of a nod and a serious listen. Kurzweg states that "he's working with Sean because he is the real deal!  He has a voice that doesn't sound like anyone but him!" Healen quit a six figure income several years ago to pursue songwriting and performing in earnest! On a weird note, Healen is also a relative of Quebec's first permanent French homesteader Louis Hebert and Canada's first female Catholic Saint, St. Marguerite Beorgeois! Also from a long line of crazy Irish ancestors! Originally from Missoula Montana, Healen has been playing the guitar since the age of 10.

Platinum record producer and engineer John Kurzweg is Producing, Recording, co-writing, playing lead guitar and providing killer backing vocals on our upcoming release! John is best known for producing the following notable acts: Eagle-Eye Cherry, Jewell, Creed, Puddle Of Mudd, Big Head Todd and the Monsters.

The Sean Healen Band has performed shows with Junior Brown, Chuck Prophet, The Iguana's, The English Beat, Jame's McMurtry and the Heartless Bastards, The Gourds,  John Hiatt and the Ageless Beauties and Jackie Greene.  The band recently won Best Rock CD 2009 New Mexico Music Awards!  Keep your ears to the airwaves, your hearts on your sleeves, your eyes on the horizon and there will be The Sean Healen Band approaching like a beautiful storm!

Ronny Sessum has delivered a hard hitting funk and blues record that is sure to attract fans far beyond the blues genre, where Ronny has been building a reputation as an incredible guitarist and has been featured on several chart topping records.  This record has something for everyone. What's unusual is Ronny's complete evacuation of the standard "Let's Just Do Stevie Ray" that most guitarist like, Bonamassa and so many have so overdone.  Funk and Blues Man sounds more like Hendrix, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, and Rick James. This records was recorded over several weeks at Blues Destiny Records.  Featuring Ronny Sessum on guitars, Richard Love on drums, Sheryl Jones on the backup vocals, Diki Ross and Roy Powers on the piano, wurly and B3 and John Hoorman on bass.
